Understand the decision
Use the correct category
Describe an assistance animal as such when local law protects it; do not present it as a pet. For an ordinary pet, state species, size, carrier and number of animals so the operator can apply its published policy.
Prepare the vehicle safely
Confirm usable floor space, access side and any mobility equipment. Keep the animal under control, protect the footwell when appropriate and never place an assistance animal in the boot.
Handle a refusal properly
Stay in a safe pickup area, record vehicle or booking details and ask for the stated reason. Use the operator and regulator’s official channel; arrange another licensed ride rather than arguing at the curb.

Common questions
Can a driver charge extra for an assistance animal?
In many regulated systems this is prohibited, but the exact protection depends on local law. Check the authority for the pickup location.
Must every taxi carry an ordinary pet?
No. Pet acceptance often depends on operator policy, vehicle and carrier. Confirm it before dispatch.
