Before departure, confirm whether the fare is metered or fixed, which payment methods work in that vehicle and which extras may apply. Pay only the displayed or agreed amount, choose the local currency when a terminal offers conversion, and keep a receipt or booking record. Tipping is local custom, not a universal rule.

Confirm the complete price method

Ask whether the meter, a regulated flat fare or an accepted booking quote applies. Clarify airport, night, toll, booking and card charges before moving; never infer them from another city.

Keep control of the payment

Check the amount before tapping or entering a PIN. If a terminal offers a home-currency conversion, compare it with paying in local currency. Do not let a card leave your sight when a portable terminal can be used.

Close the trip with evidence

Take the printed receipt or save the in-app record. It should identify the vehicle or booking, date, amount and payment method well enough for lost property or a fare query.

Is a card surcharge always allowed?

No. Rules differ by place and service. Check the local regulator or accepted booking terms before paying an unexplained fee.

How much should I tip?

There is no global percentage. Follow local custom, keep the choice voluntary where the rules say it is, and base it on the final fare rather than an unconfirmed estimate.
