Understand the decision
Compare door to door
A direct train can be quick but still leave a transfer or long walk to the address. A taxi reaches the door but can lose time in congestion. Record each leg and its likely waiting time; check the last service if you land late.
Calculate the whole group cost
Public transport usually charges per passenger; a taxi is generally priced per vehicle. Include every ticket, the final local ride, tolls and any airport or night surcharge before deciding which is cheaper.
Check access and luggage
Look for lifts, step-free routes, platform changes and the distance from the final stop. For a taxi, confirm enough seats and luggage room, plus any child seat or accessible vehicle needed. Airport and ground transport assistance may be separate bookings.
Keep an arrival fallback
Save the official timetable and taxi rank location before flying. If a service is disrupted or the last bus has left, follow the airport’s published pickup process, confirm the fare method and reject unsolicited rides in arrivals.
